About Dave Ryan:
Dave’s been in radio since high school. Having gotten his start simply “pushing buttons” during the graveyard shift one summer, Dave was hired by a Top 40 station in his hometown of Meridian, MS to do an afternoon show at the ripe age of 17. During his tenure in Mississippi, Dave worked virtually all shifts. By 2004, Dave, then program director and morning show host, decided to leave radio and relocate to South America.
After a three-month stay in South America, Dave received an e-mail from a radio friend in Charleston encouraging him to apply for a job with Apex Broadcasting, the same company which once owned his former radio station in Mississippi.
After falling in love with Charleston during his interview visit, Dave decided to relocate to the Holy City in January of 2005. Since then, Dave has been a part of the Apex family, having worked for several of the Apex stations. When FM 95.9 was launched in the summer of 2009, Dave was named program director and morning show host.
Away from radio, Dave enjoys toying around in his home studio, traveling, and studying foreign languages and cultures. While he doesn’t watch as much TV as he once did, Dave does enjoy “House,” “No Reservations,” “24,” and just about anything on the History Channel.
Having spent part of his high school years abroad as an exchange student and on independent study programs, Dave is fluent in Portuguese and is also able to speak Spanish and, to a lesser degree, French. So, when you see Dave around town, make sure to say “oi,” “hola,” or even “bonjour!”
