On Sunday, March 14, 2010, the community will come together to celebrate the 22nd annual KidsFair. The City of Charleston is an official partner with the JCC in presenting this event. Last year, close to 10,000 children and their families attended KidsFair, which is geared toward children 3-12 years of age. The Gaillard Auditorium and grounds are converted into a children’s fair with over 95 exhibits including local businesses and non-profit agencies. KidsFair is centered on promoting a safe environment, healthy lifestyles, and family friendly activities.
This year’s focus is “GO GREEN-GO HEALTHY.”

KidsFair emphasizes the educational, health and enrichment opportunities available in the Charleston community and surrounding areas.  KidsFair is sponsored by First Federal Bank, Charleston County School District, S.C. ETV Kids, Publix Super Markets Charities, Inc., and Publix Super Markets, and Apex Broadcasting. Mayor Joseph P. Riley will welcome everyone on the outdoor stage at 12:30 p.m. as the character parades begins. There will be many exciting hands-on exhibits and activities to enjoy: eliminating childhood obesity, healthy food demonstrations, following the recycling process, informative health screenings, playing games while learning about safety,  brain & spine displays,  playing with puppies, meeting famous costumed characters like ETV’s Raggs’s the Dog, face painting, outdoor dancing,  creating tooth prints to identify children,  handling a snake, enjoying entertainment on the main outdoor stage, and meeting your favorite sports personalities. There will also be many outdoor inflatables, a fire engine, a police vehicle, a climbing wall, an ambulance and many outdoor Resourse and Recovery stations, along with the “Talkin’ Trash Tent” where kids can learn about the benefits of recycling.  New to KidsFair this year will be the Green Fair “Eco-Carnival” brought to you by Earthforce.
All of this is provided for a nominal entrance fee of $1.00 per child and adult.
Adults must be accompanied by a child.
